A fantastic session with plenty of highlights all round

Hot on the heals from last weeks successful match against Stamford we had 3 games on the go which showed some fantastic skills. Clearly match time is paying dividends in improving the quality of their game. Something has clicked in the tackling and we saw some amazing pressure against the Paviours giving them little room for manoeuvre often with 7 fast tackles resulting in a turnover giving Newark possession that they made good use of. The breakout runs are now being well supported with one or two other members flanking ready to take over. We are now starting to spread out more across the field though when the game slows down we start to bunch up around the ball again leaving large gaps down the wings but these gaps were not exploited and so the try score dipped heavily in our favour. In the match I watched we had some fantastic powerful play from the likes of Harry and Josh who were great at both attacking and defense. They were great at steam rolling over the Paviours to gain good ground and offloading the ball when momentum slowed. In defense they equally put up a solid wall of tackles or driving the opposition into touch when Newark did not have possession of the ball. Zack continued to play with drive and determination so it was a shame he had to come off early due to injury but I'm sure you'll be fighting fit again soon, so rest up. Closer to home I was proud to see Sullivan getting his head in the game, with some committed tackles and strong runs down the pitch clocking up a few tries, but at the end of the day it is as a team they win or lose and today they can all take a well-deserved pat on the back. It looks like it was a similar situation across the other 2 pitches with the number of shout outs and claps we had at the end so another successful afternoon of Rugby for Newark which will hopefully be replicated in the other big tournament that started this weekend.
