Newark dominated this Cup tie at Doncaster

Newark Colts completed a successful weekend for senior teams by dominating this Cup tie at Doncaster to win by six tries to three.

Next up is a trip to Market Rasen which is scheduled for next weekend.

On a greasy surface, Newark seized on mistakes by the hosts to take control in the opening stages of the first half. Tries by Joe Doubell, Nathan Churchill and the first of two from Luke Fisher earned a 23-7 lead by the break.

In the second half, Newark pulled further clear through the second of Fisher’s tries and other by Harry Whitehouse and Oscar Wilby. Whitehouse also kicked two penalty goals and a conversion.

Doncaster scored two tries late on when playing their best rugby but by then it was too late.

The win by the colts squad continued a busy weekend featuring the first match for reformed women’s squad and league wins for the 1sts and 2nds. A 3rd XV also turned out against Moderns 3rds on Saturday.

Thank you to everyone for making the matches happen but, above all, to the 100 players or so who turned out in Newark colours.
