U11s v. Notts Corsairs

It was a very evenly matched game today against Nottingham Corsairs. The boys started the game well, made the tackles (albeit some too high still) and consistently put pressure on the other team. However we had a dip in performance during the second and third quarter where the tables were well and truly turned and we were left wanting, as they scored a number of tries against us. We missed tackles and seemed to lack confidence in our own ability. Our performance and discipline at the Ruck was poor, too many penalties for numerous types of infringement. This conceded territory and possession to our strong running opponents, who capitalised.

However, all good things come to he who waits and after some frank feedback, we found our form in the final quarter and went on to dominate the last period of play and execute skills and patterns with fluency and consistency, finally eradicating the poor discipline.

Real positives can be taken from the attitude change which swung the game back our way and excellent work throughout at the scrum to secure controlled ball on our put-in and taking scrums against-the-head. Player of the week was Tommy, who played well in the loose another excellent performance came from Joe R in his first appearance at Full Back.
