What a Day at Thonock Park!

On a beautiful day at Thonock Park, the European home of PING, 29 fourball teams battled it out in the Newark Rugby Golf Day sponsored by PING.

This is one of the events in Newark Rugby Club Golf Society calendar.

The day started with a hearty bacon roll - then 18 holes around the Karsten Lakes Course, and finished with the much-renowned Thonock Park Carvery and Dessert.

29 teams are the most we have had in many years so a big thank you to all that took part.

Thank you also to Ann Gooden for handing all the entries and payments, Barry Thompson for the raffle and his pre-event support, and Dickie Marshall for the making the 18-hole sponsorship signs.

Fittingly, Rory Underwood, who took part, chose hole 11 for his sponsor sign.

The atmosphere was buzzing after the golf with everyone expressing their praise for the event, the organisation, the golf course and the catering.

Many thanks to the Thonock Park staff who made sure the event was first class from start to finish, and to PING Europe who supported the event and donated the prizes to the top four teams.

The top 4 winning teams were:

1st Place - 97 points - Michael Parker, Andy Smith, Dennis Eyre and Johnty Wallis
2nd Place - 92 points - Michael Dobson, Martin Dobson, Andy Simms, Nick Cave
3rd Place - 92 points - Kevan Brassington, Bradley Larimore, Derek Northin, Rob Birds
4th Place - 92 points - Noah Catley, Ollie Firth, Ben Firth, Josiah Waqalevu

'Beat the Pro' on hole 17 - Although everyone tried, only 16 out of 116 managed to beat Thonock Park Professional Nick Whiting.
The winner drawn out of a hat, won a fourball voucher kindly donated by Torksey Golf Club. Many thanks Nick.

The PING prizes were presented to the winning teams by Dickie Marshall, president of the Newark Rugby Club Golf Society.

This was a great event for everyone and it helped to raise significant funds for the Rugby Club, which will be ploughed into our objective, to provide rugby to our local community and create rugby stars of the future.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part or helped to make this a very successful Rugby Club Day.
